Green axes, collective gardens and open outdoor living spaces connect the different buildings with each other and with the canal. By keeping the landscape deliberately open and legible, long sightlines and a strong sense of space emerge, while strategically placed planting provides shelter and intimacy where needed. Water is a defining element in the design. The proximity of the canal is reinforced through green banks, walking paths and places to pause that invite residents to slow down and experience the landscape. At the same time, the design contributes to sustainable water management, with infiltration zones and green roofs that soften the urban climate. Landscape architecture becomes the connecting layer between heritage and new build, between public and private. The result is a residential landscape where green is not merely decoration, but a structural element for quality of life, identity and future resilience. The roof of the parking was designed as a shared inner courtyard. This centrally located outdoor space gives access to the different housing volumes and offers room for social interaction and relaxation. The organic shaping of the green zones supports a sense of calm and serenity. Plant selection considered biodiversity as well as visual quality in every season. Native and nectar-rich species stimulate insects, birds and other wildlife. Spring bloomers bring colour and life after winter, summer planting adds lushness, autumn species provide warm tones and seed-bearing and evergreen plants maintain a strong visual quality even in winter.
