Ter Bank

The Terbank site has been a place of care for more than 800 years, evolving from a historic leper colony into a contemporary medical psychiatric centre (MPC) and a school campus for young people with specific care needs. The project combines the integration of a new MPC building with the redevelopment of the surrounding park landscape, set within a valuable heritage context that includes a protected monastery. Avantgarden supported architect A33 in developing a landscape vision and landscape design, in consultation with the Agency for Immovable Heritage and the urban planning authorities. By linking historical analysis with present-day needs, a widely supported and sustainable design was created in which care, heritage, and landscape reinforce one another.
