The former headquarters of L’Oréal Belgium was repurposed into an interactive business centre in which different departments serve multiple functions. The targeted sustainability certificate strongly focused on future-ready and sustainable development. In practice, circulation flows were fully separated and an automated parking policy was introduced to actively encourage alternative means of transport. The result is a pleasant work environment with outdoor workspaces and relaxation areas connected to the collective dining hall and restaurant. The landscape characteristics of the site were carefully mapped and formed the starting point for the design. In addition to strengthening biodiversity, the aim was to avoid sterile maintenance and create a dynamic landscape structure, supported by a management plan with fixed evaluation moments to adjust in time.
