BREEAM certification for sustainable landscapes.

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is an internationally recognised certification system that assesses the sustainability and environmental performance of buildings and areas. The system encourages future-oriented design with a strong focus on ecology, water management, energy and mobility.

Within BREEAM projects, Avantgarden carries out the Land Use & Ecology sub-studies and provides targeted input for the themes Lighting, Water Use and Mobility. Thanks to our in-depth knowledge of BREEAM procedures and our leading role in the landscape-related assessments, we create a direct link between theoretical evaluation and concrete design implementation.

In this way, we ensure a feasible, sustainable and ecologically sound landscape, fully realising BREEAM ambitions without compromising on quality or practicality.

Smart design of blue-green networks is more important than ever today. As an integral part of the landscape, these networks contribute to biodiversity, water management and climate adaptation. Avantgarden is a landscape architecture and design office that guides projects from A to Z with one clear ambition: creating buildable and achievable landscapes. Creative design visions are fully translated in-house into detailed execution documents, including specifications and bills of quantities in accordance with SB250 standards for road infrastructure.

We firmly believe that a complete and high-quality execution dossier is the key to correct implementation within the predefined budget. Through pragmatic site supervision, we work closely with the construction team to ensure an efficient execution process and a high-quality realisation of the landscape design.

Clear communication and participatory landscape design.

Effective communication with architects, clients and public authorities is an essential part of our work. Avantgarden operates proactively and efficiently, using sketches, sections and clear plans as powerful tools to convey design ideas in a clear and convincing manner.

Tree management and protection within landscape design.

Trees play a defining role in every landscape and form an essential foundation for a mature and sustainable green framework. Avantgarden starts from a thorough inventory and analysis of existing trees, with close attention to their ecological and landscape value.

We prepare feasible tree protection plans, guide felling and deforestation permit procedures, and ensure appropriate compensation where preservation is not possible. Existing trees are thoughtfully integrated into future-oriented landscape designs, with a strong focus on longevity and healthy growth.

Through targeted communication and close collaboration with certified European Tree Workers (ETW) and European Tree Technicians (ETT), Avantgarden guarantees professional and careful tree management, from study and design through to execution.
