In the shadow of an architectural master

The church on the Maurits Lauwersplein in Wevelgem is a protected monument designed by influential architect Dom Hans van der Laan. Avantgarden further developed the square around the church in the spirit of his work, connecting it with the surroundings. The design follows the numerical ratios Dom Hans van der Laan championed— ‘the plastic number’—and extends the spatial building of the church to the square. Architecture: Dom Hans van der Laan.
