Above the City

This roof garden in Antwerp was conceived as a cosy outdoor space above the city, with open skyline views and maximum privacy. The design combines wood, greenery, and architecture into a clear and warm whole. The underlying steel structure is kept completely out of sight to ensure sufficient load-bearing capacity, supporting bespoke wooden joinery that structures the garden and forms generous planters—bringing greenery up to height and subtly defining the space. Warm wood tones soften the urban character and create an inviting atmosphere. A border in black charred wood encloses the garden and brings a sense of calm and shelter, while the view over the city remains. The result is an urban outdoor room where relaxation and panorama meet—high above the rhythm of Antwerp’s city centre.
